Mr. Lawrence D. Wooden
Managing Partner
Lawrence Duane Wooden is a partner at Wooden Bowers PLLC. Attorney Wooden practices in the areas of Business Law, Estate Planning, and Estate Administration. He is committed to working closely with clients to educate and assist them in making informed decisions to help them reach their short term and long term goals. Mr. Wooden has also provided pro bono estate planning legal services. Attorney Wooden is a graduate of Charlotte School of Law, where he was a part-time evening student. While in school he volunteered with the Charlotte Immigration clinic and the Expungment Project. He is licensed to practice law in North Carolina. Attorney Wooden has over 7 years of practical business experience working in different industry segments. Prior to opening the firm, he worked as a Finance Manager with a Property & Casualty Insurance Company, Fiscal Grant Manager with the City of New Orleans, and as a Commercial Banking Underwriter for a large Midwest Bank. Attorney Wooden has a Bachelors in Business Administration and an MBA in Finance, both from Florida A&M University. Attorney Wooden is originally from New Orleans, LA. Outside of practicing law, Attorney Wooden enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, traveling and watching his favorite football team, the New Orleans Saints.
Mr. Walter L Bowers
Managing Partner
Walter L. Bowers Jr. is a native of Bessemer, AL. He attended Miles College in Birmingham, AL where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Sciences while playing football and being a part of the Student Government Association. Walter was the student commander of his Reserve Officer Training Company (ROTC) and was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army. During his time in the Army, Walter was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. After leaving the Army, Walter gained valuable business experience as a Senior Buyer where he worked to improve efficiency through cost reducing measures. Desiring to get back into the public sector in order to serve, Walter later joined the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. During his time at CMPD Walter became a very effective police officer involved in community policing initiatives. Walter was awarded the “Officer of the Month” award in October 2009. While working as a patrol officer, Walter was accepted into the Charlotte School of Law. He participated in the part-time evening program which allowed him to simultaneously continue his career as a patrol officer. Walter was later assigned to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department’s Police Attorney’s Office, where he was responsible for responding to claims filed against the CMPD. Walter also assisted with complex civil rights litigation filed against the City. During the Democratic National Convention(2012), Walter was assigned to the audit team responsible for ensuring that all security grant guidelines were followed. Walter is very active in local and international outreach efforts through the work that he does at his church.
